08/18/08 The new record is done!

Well, kind of... I (Jeff) just got back from Baltimore where I was mixing our first full-length record with J. Robbins. To be honest, out of every band I have ever been in, I think this is the best record I have ever had anything to do with. I couldn't be fucking happier! Its taken seven months for us to get this thing together.

Here is a quick run down: We got back from a couple west coast dates with Samiam at the end of Feb. and went right into the studio. Eric was leaving for a tour with Strike Anywhere so we had to get the drums down in 3 days. We recorded all the music with Andy Gerber @ Million Yen Studios here in Chicago. Andy recorded the new Smoking Popes record and the last few Local H records, so we knew he would do a great job. Eric really came through on the drum side of things and breathed new life into some songs that had been kicking around for a long time. Three weeks later, I started laying down guitars. I usually just plug in the old Les Paul to the Marshall and blast it, but this time I really wanted to add more to the songs. This ended up taking awhile, but I think I did a good job with coming up with additional ideas in the studio. Andy really helped this! The guitars sound fucking massive. Thanks dude!

A few weeks later, it was Greg's turn to throw down the bass. In typical Greg fashion, he knocked it out quick. He is good like that. So it took a while after that to get the vocal end down. We needed to find a producer, and we were fortunate enough to get Earl Talbot Jr. to come in and help. We were on a real tight budget (we paid for this ourselves), but Earl was able to work with what we had. He also was able to get his friend Chris Harden @ IV Labs studio to record the vocals. We really owe him for that one! We were lucky to get a lot of great people to help out with this recording. Ted went into the studio a few weeks ago, and did the vocals in about 3 days. He killed it, and the vocals came out amazing! I had been talking to J. Robbins while this whole process was happening, and he was really excited about the idea of mixing our record (fucking crazy!). So before I knew it, I was in Magpie Cage studio with J. mixing this thing. He brought a completely new take on the recording, and I think the record is better for it.

So what now? We have been going over the mixes, figuring out a couple adjustments, and after that is figured out we are sending it out to be mastered. We are hoping to have it back in our hands by the begining of Sept. Wow!!! I guess that is ore like the "long" version of everything, but believe me its a lot more complicated and drawn out than I explained it. Anyway, we will probably post a couple of the songs here once it's mastered. To be honest, I'm not sure when the record is going to available. We are in between record labels right now, but hopefully we will have that figured out soon!

Thanks for sticking with us!

Jeff/4SA

11/15/07 Quick Update

We juct got back from our tour to The Fest and believe me it was awesome. We've made a few quick updates to the website and we will be playing a show soon too!

A big thanks to all our fans and next time we play make sure youre there!!!!

9/21/07 FSA News! News! News!

Well Four Star fans we're sorry there haven't been any updates in a while but we've been up to some pretty exciting things...

We wanted to start off by thanking everybody who came out to the Smoking Popes show and our show at the Empty Bottle. Both of those shows were awesome and you guys made it even better. And now here's a little bit of what’s been going on.

Drummer Mike Horick will be leaving Four Star and moving to LA. Starting next spring. Once there Mike will begin filming the new season of "Hogan Knows Best". He will be reprising the role of Hulk Hogan and depending on the ratings may expand his role into that of Mrs. Hogan too. Were all pretty excited for him. In all seriousness Mike has great job waiting there for him and we wish him all the best!

So you may ask, "Who can replace 'The Beast'?" Well FSA's new drummer is none other than Eric Kane!!! Eric fucking rocks and will splitting time between FSA and his other band Strike Anywhere. Unfortunately with Strike Anywhere on tour and the changeover we wont be playing any shows until early November, nonetheless we couldn't be more excited.

We are going to play The Fest 6 in Gainesville, FL on October 28th! A good friend Mike Pinaud will be filling in on drums for this show. Mike and Jeff have known each other for years and have played together in Tomorrows Gone and The Story So Far. Also we have been working on some new songs for our long overdue full-length release. We know its been about a year since the release of our self titled EP but don’t worry because we have 10 songs finished and are working on 4 more. Trust us it'll be worth the wait.

In more music news we have a new 7" out and it is available through No Idea Records, Interpunk, or Underground Communiqué. There were only 550 pressed with 100 on blue vinyl and it features a live version of our new song, "Cities in Dust".

Well that about sums it up for now. We will try to keep this updated more often and keep you guys up to date on all the great things we have coming up!!!
